Urlaub am Bauernhof

There’s always something going on at the farm

Kurt bei dem Kühen

Go to the barn, milk the cows and goats
Cock-a-doodle-doo, time to get up, the sun is shining! Work on the farm calls!
Mornings, the rooster crows. The animals need to be tended. Christian, our man for house and farm, goes to the barn at 7 am. If you are an early riser, you can watch Christian at work in the barn. If you like, you may also lend him a hand, (evenings after a day’s work between 6 and 7pm).  Every day, children can gather freshly laid eggs for breakfast from the hens’ nests. Please first put on barn clothing. Don’t play in the barn. You will scare the cows and then they won’t give milk. Young children may only enter the barn when accompanied by an adult.

Butter and curd
In the dairy room, you see how a centrifuge separates milk into cream and skim milk as well as how butter and curd is made. Farmer Kurt will be happy to show you.

Hay harvest
Twice a year, we mow the meadows. The lush alpine grass contains many herbs and flowers. When it is freshly mowed, it smells wonderful. We use this alpine grass for our hay flower baths. If you would like to harvest hay, you’re welcome to join us!

Farmer’s and herb garden
In the farmer’s garden, vegetables and herbs grow, that we serve at breakfast. Here, you will gain insight into healthy nutrition and herbal knowledge.

Gathering mushrooms
Depending upon the weather, you can gather mushrooms from July to August in our woods. We can cook them up together in the farmhouse kitchen for a delicious dinner.

(P.S. You can eat every mushroom once….)
